Barcelona’s revolutionary Hansi Flick-led tactics, which have thrilled fans this season, hit a bump on Sunday night when they fell to Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena. As is tradition, the home fans celebrated their side’s goal by breaking into the ‘Poznań’—a unique celebration where fans turn their backs to the pitch and jump up and down.

This ritual, originally a form of protest by supporters of Polish club Lech Poznań, has since been adopted by fans across Europe, including those of Real Sociedad.

In the 33rd minute, Sheraldo Becker, Sociedad’s summer signing from Union Berlin, scored past Barcelona’s goalie, Iñaki Peña, igniting the stadium.

The crowd erupted into the Poznań, with cameras capturing one unfortunate Barcelona fan caught in the middle, looking bewildered and unsure of where to go.

The confusion on the fan’s face mirrored Barcelona’s struggles on the pitch. Without Lamine Yamal’s explosive runs and dribbling on the right flank, Barcelona’s usually dominant attack, which has outplayed Real Madrid and Bayern Munich this season, failed to break down Sociedad’s defense.

This defeat keeps Barcelona six points behind second-placed Real Madrid in La Liga, who have a game in hand. A crucial run of fixtures awaits after the international break, and Flick’s side will need to regroup if they’re to keep up with their rivals in La Liga.
