Spanish news outlets made a startling revelation about Real Madrid loanee Jesus Vallejo in the early hours of Saturday. Per multiple outlets like AS, the Spaniard went into depression following a divorce from his long-term partner Maria Delgado, following which he stopped attending matches and training sessions for Granada CF. Vallejo, however, comes out to bash these rumors once and for all.
Vallejo has been married to Delgado for 12 years and remains married. On his Instagram account, the 27-year-old said,
“The news published by Aimara G. Gil on Diaro AS that Maria and I have broken off the relationship is totally false. Maria and I have been in a relationship for 12 years and we have always been together and still together today.”
Vallejo put up a picture of his wedding day as a caption and tagged Delgado to further assert that there is nothing wrong between them. Whether or not he will take action against the publishers for ‘defamation’ or not, remains to be seen.
On the other hand, Vallejo is believed to be suffering from depression. His official injury report on multiple websites states the same as the reason behind him not starting a single La Liga game since January.
Vallejo went on loan to Granada to get more playing time, due to the abundance of defensive talent at his parent club, Real Madrid. However, his loan spell has been a disaster so far.
He suffered from a lower leg fracture after just one game with the club, an injury that recurred after he made a comeback on Matchday 9. He made a brief return against Cadiz in January, playing 10 minutes, and spent the following game against Real Betis on the bench.
Since then, he has been absent from the squad list in every single game. Per Transfermarkt, Vallejo is depressed, which could be the reason behind Granada allowing him to take time off. But it isn’t because of his marriage, as that continues to be intact.
Vallejo is expected to return to Real Madrid once his loan move ends in July, and he could do next to nothing to help Granada escape relegation to the Segunda Division. With more Centre-Back reinforcements set to arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, Vallejo could end up going out on loan again or could choose to go for a permanent transfer, when he recovers.
