“Running down the wing, our Egyptian King” — the famous chant that has followed Mo Salah’s captivating performances over the years at Anfield. However, after what Salah said following Liverpool’s win away at Southampton, there are fears that it may fade away pretty soon.
The Salah contract fiasco has been raging for some time now, with Liverpool yet to present a deal to the legendary winger, who has scored 223 goals for the Reds since joining in 2016.
It isn’t clear whether Salah wants to stay or not, but he certainly isn’t happy that he hasn’t been presented with the paperwork to even consider it yet. His current deal expires in eight months, and there will surely be multiple suitors around Europe, and maybe even Saudi Arabia, ready to pounce for his signature.
The club has two choices.
1. Give Salah what he deserves.
2. Feel the anger of supporters.

However, this wasn’t the time to go public with this. Against Southampton, it was Salah’s goal that secured a 3-2 win, putting Liverpool eight points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table. However, right after the game, when a reporter asked him about his future, he said, “I’m more out than in.”
In all honesty, Liverpool are playing for bigger things this season than simply Salah’s contract. They are the favorites to win the Premier League and have a huge fixture against Real Madrid awaiting midweek in the UEFA Champions League. As Jamie Carragher said in a segment after Salah’s bombshell, nothing is as important as that.
Salah opening up about his contract frustrations or desire to leave in front of the media could only lead to dressing room instability, which could shake up the otherwise near-perfect start Arne Slot’s men have had to the 2024/25 season.
Carragher’s supposed to be a club legend.
Rather odd this.
He should rather call out Liverpool, but he does so with Salah?
Another FSG puppet.

Carragher, a Liverpool club legend, had another bold opinion. “The reason Liverpool wouldn’t have offered a contract is because Mo Salah would turn it down.” The former defender explained that with Salah’s age (32), his valuation would not be as high as he would want.
At the same time, Salah is a club legend and still playing at the top of his game. He is key to Slot’s system and surely has another 3-4 (at least) years of top-level football under his belt. Fans are emotional and enraged and want Salah to be offered a contract, but the minds at FSG (Liverpool’s owners) surely think otherwise.
