Manchester United’s interest in PSG youngster wakes Bayern Munich up

Xavi Simons was one of the Netherlands’ standout performers at Euro 2024, scoring once and assisting twice before the Oranje went out in the semi-finals to England. But now, the PSG youngster who spent 23/24 on loan at RB Leipzig, could end up making a switch to a bigger team, quite possibly the Premier League.

Leipzig wants Simons permanently but faces close competition from Bundesliga side Bayern, who admittedly have the upper hand but his choices aren’t limited there. Earlier this year, L’Equipe reported that Arsenal, Barcelona, and both Manchester clubs were assessing the 21-year-old.

As such, Bayern wants to ramp up the process of signing Simons to avoid losing him to another club. PSG doesn’t plan on selling him this summer, and interested clubs will have to take him out on loan again. In 2025, his move to whichever club he lands in could be made permanent.

Manchester United, led by an ambitious Erik Ten Haag, is reportedly heavily interested in having Simons on loan at Old Trafford but Bayern is prepared to go one step ahead.

Sky Germany revealed that the Bavarian club has offered PSG a loan deal for Simons, with a buy-clause that will take the Dutchman’s transfer fee to above €60 million.

Simons, an already Bundesliga-tested talent, did wonders for Leipzig last season. He had 25 G/A in 43 matches for the German team, and helped them to a fourth-place finish, qualifying for this year’s UEFA Champions League.
