Fede Valverde and Mina Bonino share a loving marriage and are parents to two sons. Bonino is well-acquainted with the players and WAGs at Real Madrid and is a passionate football fan herself. Hailing from Argentina, she supports River Plate, one of the country’s biggest clubs. Unfortunately, her husband, Fede, is rooting for the opposition.
During the international break, ESPN approached Valverde to ask about the ongoing Copa Libertadores tournament, where South America’s top clubs compete.
Valverde, who supports Peñarol (his former club), admitted he doesn’t want the Montevideo-based team to win the title without facing River Plate in the final.
“I hope for a Peñarol vs. River Plate final,” he said, laughing. “I think it could even lead to a divorce (laughs).”

River Plate, meanwhile, will play Atlético Mineiro on October 23 to secure their spot in the final.
At the Valverde household, the atmosphere will be tense if Peñarol and River Plate meet in the final. However, it’s important to note that the Real Madrid midfielder was certainly joking about his marriage being strained over the rivalry.
