For those wondering where Jesse Lingard plays currently, tune into the K-League 1— South Korea’s top division. The former Manchester United star may be away from the European limelight, but he is still banging in goals, even if his team does little to help him.
In Seoul’s match against Gwangju FC, the Englishman scored a stunning goal, reminiscent of his Manchester United days. He got the ball at the edge of the box, took the two defenders who were on him on, and put it in the top corner, out of the keeper’s reach.

Unfortunately for Lingard and FC Seoul, this effort was in vain as they lost the game 3-1. Nevertheless, for Lingard, it was a sweet moment.
Since leaving Manchester United in 2022, things have not gone according to plan for the once-talented youngster. A good loan spell at West Ham United in 2021 had sparked talks of a permanent move, but it didn’t follow through, and after a difficult season with Nottingham Forest (22/23), he found himself without a club for some time.
That was until Seoul FC came calling.

Lingard’s start to life in South Korea was challenging, with coach Kim Gi-Dong highlighting his defensive weaknesses. According to the Seoul boss, Lingard struggled to put in enough effort to track back and assist his teammates, which affected the overall flow of the team.
Then, another setback occurred when a knee injury sidelined him for three months. It wasn’t until June 2024 that Lingard scored his first goal for Seoul FC.
In the 2024 K League 1 season, Lingard has represented Seoul 21 times, contributing five goals and one assist. While he may not be lighting up South Korea, he is performing more consistently than in his last few years in England.
