EA FC ratings, or as some still call it, FIFA ratings, have always sparked heated debate. But while much of the discussion focuses on players like Vinicius Junior or Alexia Putellas, the rating given to a young Barcelona star has left many scratching their heads.
The player in question is Salma Paralluelo, one of Spain’s 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup winning team’s star players. The 20-year-old, widely regarded as one of the best youngsters in the world, scored 34 goals in 35 games for Barcelona in 23/24 (according to the Club’s website) and helped her club win the treble.
In football video games, this kind of performance would warrant a 90+ rating, or at the very least, a significant boost to the mid-to-high 80s in the case of a breakout season.
In case of Paralluelo, however, EA Sports decided to rate her 79. What’s even more, her potential for growth in the game was given a +1.

For a player who has scored 34 goals, just having 79 in the shooting stat was labeled as a ‘disgrace’ by one fan on X (formerly Twitter).

Paralluelo, once she sees these ratings, will be eager to prove EA Sports wrong, just as much of the footballing community believes. However, she hasn’t had the chance yet, as she’s currently sidelined with an injury. A sprain to the posterior capsule of her left knee has kept her out of Barcelona’s first two Liga F games this season.
